More than three decades after its original publication, this new edition of Tokyo Style revives a cult classic and collector’s item. Kyoichi Tsuzuki’s timeless photographs offer an intimate look at Tokyo homes as they are actually inhabited, presented here in a refreshed layout that retains the original book’s generous format. A selection of the book’s iconic images culminate in a new afterword by Kyoichi that unpacks the nostalgia for his work, capturing an analog world of rich self-expression. A foreword by writer Barry Yourgrau, a longtime friend of Kyoichi’s, muses on Tokyo’s “messy and prodigiously messy” hideaways, filled with everything “from the risqué to the freaky and funky to the kawaii (“cute” in Japanese).”

Tokyo Style invites readers to step into the routines of one of the world’s largest metropolises, offering a model of how we might live more connected to ourselves and our community. “Take a seat,” Kyoichi invites. “This lifestyle is not bad at all.”
